Newton Aycliffe v North Ferriby United

26/09/2015 – 3pm

2nd Round Qualifying

0-0

After what was quite a drive to Newton Aycliffe I finally arrived along with my brother in time for the 2nd qualifying round of the famous FA cup.

This game was being touted as a ‘David v Goliath’ fixture with North Ferriby being clear odds on favourites. After seeing the performance at Brighouse I knew it wasn’t going to be as easy as the bookies suggested.

The first half was a high tempo battle and was a joy to watch. Aycliffe certainly gave it there all and didn’t look out of place in the slightest. It ended 0-0.

The second half was completely different. Whilst not as entertaining for the fans it was still a good battle and it was clear that both teams now had their own agendas. It was no surprise when the game finished 0-0 although there were some late chances!

It was along way for a goalless draw but still entertaining. I look forward to seeing the potential giant killing on Tuesday.

The draw means that it’s a Tuesday night away in North Ferriby near Hull for the replay. I hope the traffic gods are kind to me and the M62 is clear!

Some more photos and videos from the day.
