Fourth Round Qualifying (Replay)
0-0 After Extra Time (Stalybridge Celtic win 8-7 on Penalties)
Another familiar trip along the M62 took me again to what was becoming home from home as I wandered down Church Road and up Grange Lane for the 3rd time. This was to be the largest attendance I had seen here with a whopping 710 fans turning out to see the spectacle.
The game itself was very much like the initial fixture in many ways. These two sides were very evenly matched and bar a few chances in the first couple of minutes, the first half very much deserved the 0-0 that it ended with. The second half however was much more entertaining and North Ferriby should have certainly scored with Tom Denton (the 6ft 7in monster forward) causing a menace after coming on at half time. Congratulations to Celtic’s keeper McMillan who was the hero after stopping a number of certain goals which would have seen them go out of the competition. Despite the chances, the game ended 0-0 and the game went to penalties….
After 15 penalties and deep into sudden death, all players had scored (including Celtic’s keeper bizarrely!) and it was left to Ferriby’s Fry who unfortunately sent it over the bar. Utter agony.
I would like to thank North Ferriby United, the players and the fans for my enjoyable time following you on what has been an amazing journey.
Celtic, I will be fully behind you at Doncaster!

Fourth Round Qualifying
With the 1st Round Proper looming this was a huge game for both sides and for me it was a tie closer to home so once again I was joined by friends for the final qualifying round of the campaign.
After leaving the station at Stalybridge there was a march up the hill to Bower Fold where after a quick breather we were able to soak up the atmosphere and ale and enjoy the day.
Over to the game and you could tell both sides were going into this cautiously and for the majority of the first half it had 0-0 written all over it. Just before the end of the first half though I was able to capture my first goal on video as North Ferriby made it 1-0 with a well worked goal. The lighting and camera work is shoddy but you can just about make it out….
At half time all was looking rosy for the villagers….
The second half was much like the first in terms of the sides being even and it looked like it was to be Ferriby who would take the spoils as we approached the 94th minute. Stalybridge were having none of it though and equalised with seconds to spare. A decent game and a decent day out again but ANOTHER REPLAY!!! Back to Ferriby we go for the 3rd time!

Third Round Qualifying
It was time for a weekend away… After the midweek trip in the last replay in which Ferriby won 3-0 I needed to reinvigorate myself with a a day of entertainment and I was not to be disappointed.
The game itself was a spectacle and I thank both teams for giving it their all. It was North Ferriby who took the spoils and progressed with well earned 2-1 victory. It could have been 3-1 if it wasn’t for a fantastic save in the dying minutes of which I got some footage.
The crowds are certainly starting to bulk up now and Ferriby who are on a superb unbeaten run are starting to be noticed.
The draw today reveals that North Ferriby will take on either Chasetown or Stalybridge in the next round which will be the final round before the 1st round proper. Things are starting to get serious….
One thing that also made my day was meeting the legend Marlon Harewood who had a short spell as a Blackpool player in the Premier League scoring 5 goals. Only spoke briefly but he seemed a classy guy and was happy to let me get a snap with him.
Again some wonderful people were met and the journey remains an enjoyable one. Not long now though until we get into the potential future changing opportunities some of the prize money and tv revenue can bring for these clubs.
Fa cup qualifying 2nd Round
A Tuesday night after work and my focus was getting to the game and getting home. After watching Aycliffe do the impossible and take it to a replay it was difficult to watch them crash out in the style they did. I’ll be going to North Ferriby again so may have a bit more to say about the place on my next visit although it did seem very quiet. I’m sure the village will come to life in the next round against Nuneaton!
Newton Aycliffe it was a pleasure. North Ferriby I look forward to following you in the next round.
